The Schaumburg Park District encourages residents to “Take Time for Fun!” and
provides many events and activities to assist residents in pursuing their enjoyment.
More than 800 programs, classes and leisure activities are offered every year,
along with over 100 special events. Facilities provided by the Schaumburg Park
District include:

With over 1000 acres of open lands, Schaumburg, IL prides itself on providing protected, natural habitats and homes for a variety of plants, birds and other wildlife. Spring Valley Nature Sanctuary offers 135 acres of fields, forests, marshes and streams, offering 3.5 miles of handicap-accessible hiking trails.
Located within the Sping Valley Nature Sanctuary is the Vera Meineke Nature Observation Building. This center includes a natural history library, meeting space and classroom for educational programs. The Volkening Heritage Farm, also located within Spring Valley Nature Sanctuary, is an 1880 working farm, utilizing authentic farming and household chores.

Since 1970, Schaumburg's Septemberfest has entertained area residents and visitors alike. Featuring an arts & crafts fair, the Taste of Schaumburg, a Septemberfest parade, bingo tent, carnival rides, a nightly fireworks show, local musical entertainment, the Miss Septemberfest competition, and a Not-for-Profit fundraising day.
Many sports and recreational activities are found in Schaumburg, IL, including activities and sporting arenas for participation as well as spectator sports. Fans of the Schaumburg Flyers baseball team can watch games at nearby Alexian Field.
The recently renovated Schaumburg golf course features a 27-hole course that has become known as one of the finest golf courses in the area. The Schaumburg golf course has hosted several major regional and national tournaments. Schaumburg also offers the Walnut Greens, a nine-hole par 3 golf course.
Horse racing can be found at the nearby Arlington Park race. Other sporting events a short drive from Schaumburg, IL, include major league baseball at Wrigley Field and US Cellular Field, Chicago Bears games at Soldier Field, and Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Bulls games at the United Center.

With approximately 15,000 square feet, the center hosts a 442-seat auditorium, kitchen, meeting rooms and an art gallery. Well known for a series of free, outdoor summer concerts, Schaumburg residents and visitors enjoy the Schaumburg Prairie Center for the Arts for the music, art, festivals and other special events.
The recently opened American
Indian Center’s Trickster Gallery is a popular destination for Schaumburg residents and visitors. This Native
American art gallery features modern American Indian culture and ceremonial
dance exhibits.
